A hybrid coupler is a passive device used in radio and telecommunications. It is a type of directional coupler where the input power is equally divided between two output ports. Since it is a special case of directional coupler, it is discussed in Power dividers and directional couplers. A 3dB hybrid coupler is a four-port device that is used either to equally split an input signal between output ports or to combine two signals while maintaining high isolation between the ports.Hybrid couplers are often used in creating reflection phase shifters. All of the couplers discussed on this page have separate pages that go into detail on their operation. Mini-Circuits' RF hybrid coupler portfolio features over 175 models in stock including 90 degree and 180 degree designs covering frequency bands from 0.01 to 14000 MHz with power handling up to 250W. Designed with technologies including LTCC, MMIC, core and wire and microstrip/stripline, our hybrids are available in coaxial connectorized, surface mount and MMIC die formats to meet your needs. Hybrid couplers perform many functions include signal splitters, combiners, balanced mixers, image-rejection mixers, phase shifters, diplexers, switches and antenna beam-forming networks used in a wide range of commercial and military applications.
